Emily & Drew Maust
Emily and Drew Maust are missionaries with Wycliffe Bible Translators, an international missions organization whose aim is to see the Bible translated into all the world’s languages that still need it. They are currently preparing for assignment in Cameroon where Drew will serve as a linguist and translator and Emily plans to serves as a Registered Nurse. EFCC was Emily’s church prior to marrying Drew and emigrating to America.
Their Passion
Emily and Drew’s passion is for the Bibleless peoples of the world to be able to enter into the scriptural world through a door the size and shape of their own language so that they might fully know Jesus and make him known. They feel very strongly that Bible translation is the work for which they have been created and are therefore delighted to serve in this way for the glory of God.
The Task
Estimates as of 2010 suggest that around 340 million people speaking some 2,000 of the world’s over 6,000 languages may still have a need for a translation of the Bible. The aim of Bible translation is to see God glorified through changed lives as a result of people having his word in their own language. Bible translation not only provides a foundation for local churches and other missions organizations, but through literacy programs brings practical benefits to minority language communities. God truly is at work through his word!
Cameroon
West Africa and Cameroon represent one of the top three Bible translation needs in the world. In Cameroon alone over 100 languages currently await a translation of the Bible. Pastors are eager to have the Bible in their own language in order to empower evangelism and effective discipleship.
Your Partnership
As Wycliffe missionaries, Emily and Drew are supported by a community of prayer and financial partners who commit to pray and give. These are two ways you can be a part of what God is doing through the Bible translation.
